Bits and pieces of my life: Taiwan Day 2

We went to 中正纪念馆 the left building is a musical house, the right building is an opera house. Both only allow their traditional music and arts to be perform there. The middle one is memorial hall. There is 89 steps as 蒋介石 died at the age of 89. There is also a statue of him in the middle building. The colour Orange, blue and white are the colours on the Taiwan flag and it represent 蓝天白云满地红.

忠烈祠

After that we went to 忠烈祠, there they have lots of soldiers in the building itself. Every boy had to go through 2 years of army. Boys whose height is range between 170-180 and do not have short sighted will be chosen to be the guard. The guard exchange will take place at 10am and the whole event would take about 30 minutes. They have to stand for 1 hour and they have to stand really still and they could not move themselves, they will be another person there that would help them to move their leg and stuff. In there there is also a memorial hall to remember those who had contributed to the country.

At 九份

We also went to 九份 it is an old street and they have lot of food and souvenirs to buy. It is located on the mountain, and the tour bus could not drive up there as the bus is too big. The road is very narrow and it is very curvy. When there is two buses side by side it is so close to each other with like only a 30cm gap in between. In the past there was only 9 family there so when they want to buy stuff, example like meat they would buy 9 serving, they would also buy 9 broom for each other, that is how they get the name. They are famous for their beef noodles, fishball soup and 红烧肉圆. There are many shops there all side by side and they also have very delicious food, I tried the deep fried squid, grilled oyster mushrooms, grilled wild boar sausage. After that we when into a restaurant to have beef noodles and a bowl of hot red bean dessert.

In the evening we went to 三福休息农场, we did a DIY there, we learn how to make a book combine with a photo frame. It took us about 40 minutes to make it.

DIY time

After the DIY session we arrived at 宜兰香格里拉冬山河渡假饭店 to have our dinner. And had some night activity, like trying out how to play the spinning top, there is also a time for us to make our own 汤圆 and they would cook it for us to eat. We would also get to write our wishes on the lantern and light it up. After lighting the lantern, they also light up the fireworks to bring up the atmosphere.
