Sunday Market

Since today is my off day so i am not working, i decided to meet up with my friend for lunch since it has been a long time since we last met. We decide to go and try another cafe this time, so we decided to go to sunday market since it is open on monday ( Many cafes are not open on monday..).

We took the MRT and alight at serangoon MRT and took the bus number 101 and three stops later we almost reach the cafe, we walk a small distance and manage to find the cafe. When we step it, we were surprise by the number of people in there, there were so many people and not many seats left. We had to seat at the bar area as the tables were all taken up.
Rendang
Churros
Toast
Raspberry and passionfruit ice-cream
Tom yum pasta

Rendang beef toast.
My friend decided to get the spicy tom yum prawn pasta while i got the beef rendang toast. The rendang is really good, the mixture of spices blend in and the rich coconut being infused into the rendang paste. However i would prefer it to be more spicy though, but it really goes well with the thick toast. The toast was buttery and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and taste heavenly with the combination of the rendang. To end of the meal, i had a raspberry and passionfruit ice cream while my friend had Churros. After that we went back to nex and managed to get the 1 for 1 starbucks drink and i got the peppermint mocha while my friend got toffee nut latte.

Grandpa's Eighty Birthday

To celebrate my grandfather's eighty birthday my cousin's family and my family decided to book a chalet to have a enjoyable and relaxing staycation, so we book the chalet at the NRSCC as it was big enough to hold all of us. The chalet also has a really big living room which is good for holding a gathering. On the first day of the chalet, we have our buffet to celebrate our grandfather's birthday, so my mum invited her cousins and auntie and uncles to celebrate with us. It was really enjoyable as they get to have a chance to seat down and chit chat and catch up with each other too. The buffet was really tasty as the food was from Neo garden catering. I especially love the curry chicken and the sweet and sour fish.

After the buffet was over, we decided to head to the bowling alley to play a game of bowling. I have a fun time playing bowling with my cousins as it has been a long time since i last bowl, the last time was during the batam trip (which was way back).
Grandfather's cake

BBQ treats.

The second day of chalet was filled with lots of fun too, my auntie decided to BBQ some sweet potato, corn and potato so that they can snack on it anytime. My cousins and i decided to go swimming so we went to swim early in the morning, after that we went back to have lunch. After lunch we decided to go for a karaoke session, so we book the room for two hours and sang to our hearts content, I literally gone mad too in the room singing and dancing non stop (I totally lose my voice after that ).

Pool side

When the karaoke session was over, we wanted to go cycling since it is still early however things did not go as plan..... We paid of the rental of the bicycle and had to choose the bikes, however the bikes there are not really in a good conditions. Some bike have the chain loosen, some bike's brake was even spoilt. We went in and out of the office so many times to change the bike and the time has started ticking away so we were wasting time there choosing a bike that was functional. So in the end we decided to get a refund since we cannot even find a functional bike to ride. After this tragic event, we went back and started with our family BBQ.
Satay!!!!

We decided to order the food for BBQ online so it is much easier for us, so we do not have to go out and buy food and marinated it and stuff, making our life much easier.

On the last day of the chalet, we have to check out at 10am so after that we went home and get some rest and unpack too. During dinner time, my family brought my grandfather out for dinner and we went to a chinese restaurant and order his favourite dishes.

Teddy and Me cafe

It has been a long time since i last post again, it is because i am currently working part time and when i come home it will be very late already and i do not have much chance to go any where really interesting. Last friday, while shopping for some stuff i came across this cafe called "Teddy&Me" and it is a Mr bean theme inspired cafe.

The food there is really cute, like their cakes and coffee, their cake will have Mr bean's face on it too making it really adorable. I purchased a rainbow cheesecake and it taste heavenly good. The cream cheese was really creamy and the sweetness and sourness is just right. The cake was moist and fluffy and goes really well with the cream cheese, once you start eating it you will not want to put down your fork.

The cakes and other food there is also really instagram worthy. The cafe is quite moderately space,  and the tables are quite small just a small round white table, with four wooden chairs around it. The prices of the food is quite okay for a cafe. It will be a good place for people to meet up and have a chat there too i think.

Banana Muffin (Updated with pictures)

This is the undated version of the banana muffin that i posted a long time back, but this time it includes pictures. The steps to make the muffin is the same, and this recipe is really easy and uses a hand full of ingredients that you may already own at home.

This muffin do not really have a really strong banana taste to it, so children who do not like to banana may end up liking this muffin without knowing that there is banana in it. It may be a first step for them to try eating banana.

Ingredients: To make 6 muffins
- 75g granulated sugar
- 100g self-rising flour
- 1 banana
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 15g butter
   Preheat oven to 200'C
Step 1: Melt the butter

Step 2: Let the butter cool for a while before adding the egg, sugar, vanilla extract.

Step 3: Mash the banana
Step 4: Add in the banana to the butter mixture.

Step 5: Add in the self-rising flour and mix well.

Step 6: Put the mixture into cupcake liners.

Step 7: Bake the muffins at 200'C for 15 to 20 minutes.

Nakhon Kitchen

On Tuesday, our family went out to celebrate my brother's birthday. So in the morning we went to watch the movie Hotel Transylvania 2 at Tampines Mall,  after that in the night we went out to have a thai dinner at Nakhon kitchen in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10. This place is always packed with people regardless it is a weekend or weekday. There will always be a long queue in front of the stall during dinner time, therefore to beat the queue we went there quite earlier. We reached there at 5.30pm to have early dinner.

Crispy grouper toppled with thai chili sauce
The staff are really friendly and the moment you seat down, they will serve you glasses of plain water. We ordered the seafood tom yum soup, pandan leaves chicken, chicken red curry, crispy grouper toppled with thai chili sauce, stir fry beef with garlic, stir fry sambal kang kong.

Chicken red curry
My favourite dish out of all of them is the crispy grouper toppled with thai chili sauce, the fish is super crispy on the outside (Skin) and soft on the inside (flesh of the fish) and the thai chili sauce matches well with the fish just like a cherry on top of a ice cream. My least favourite would be the chicken red curry, the coconut taste was overpowering and cover the taste of the curry but thailand is famous for their green curry, maybe their green curry will be much better.

Stir fry beef with garlic
Pandan chicken
The pandan leaves chicken is also another show stopper, the chicken is marinated just nice and is soft and tender, it goes well with a plate of warm rice. The spices in the chicken makes it addictive and makes you want to eat more than one. The seafood tom yum soup was not bad, it was sour and spicy hence it is really appetising but i wish it could be more spicy. The seafood in the soup are all fresh seafood like the prawns, they did not use frozen seafood.

Overall the price of the food there is quite affordable, and if people want to dine there a tip would be to go early or you will have to wait as they have a limited number of tables there due to space constrains.

Hungry Heroes

To celebrate that our O'levels were over, me and my friends went to Hungry Heroes for dinner. This place is kinda similar to the superhero theme cafe in Marina Bay Sands (DC Comic Super Heroes Cafe). The price of the food at hungry hero is slightly cheaper than the one in Marina Bay Sand, however the food are not being decorated to incorporate some super hero logo and designs. So both cafes have their pros.

The restaurant is located near Farrer Park MRT station, within one of the stretch of shophouses. The place is beautifully decorated from the nice tiles to the super heroes figurine on the wall, even the tables looks so cool.

The food there was not bad, quite good. We ordered a meat platter called "Nice to MEAT you", it is nice that they try to insert puns in their menu. We also ordered a Mac and Cheese, deep friend luncheon chips.

Atmosphere was good with music playing softly in the background, a good place for people to chit chat and dine at the same time.  The restaurant has 2 story, and people could even buy some of the things there like the super hero figurine, posters, lights and many more. The place is also dimly lighted, making the place feel warm and cosy at the same time.
