School Assignments

     It has been a while since i have last blogged, it is due to all the hectic school life that is going on at the moment. This acts as a August update too and also for me to post some of my assignments that i have done.

Happy Sock: We are suppose to create a pair of socks for the company "Happy Socks" and this pair of socks have to make people feel happy when they use and see the sock. It can also be something that makes you happy.

Happy Thing: Create an artwork of what makes you feel happy. For me i like travelling, thus i created an airplane with a sunset at the back.

Happy Ad: Create an ad for any product you want, i really really love my pepper lunch thus i created the advertisement for pepper lunch. The explanation for the poster is that the animals are working hard to produce the best quality meat thus they are exercising.

Happy Story: Is for us to create a poster like page to document our assignments and explain the design rational behind it.

20 Images: We have to stylise the image that we choose into twenty different style, this is to train our creativity.

Self portrait: Using 4 different art movement we recreate a self portrait of our face. I got the art movement, art nouveau, bauhaus, cubism and constructivism.

Book cover: After being assigned to an art movement, we have to use that art movement and create a book cover for a book that we choose. I got Art deco movement and i decided to do a book cover for the book called "An inspector call", it is a really good book and i highly recommend you guys to read it.

For my typography class, we have to come up with many different composition everyday for different exercise. There is a total of 6 exercise and each exercise we have to come up with 4 composition so at the end we have a total of 24 composition. The final assignment is to create a poster for the typography exhibition. My headline for the poster was let type do the talking, as after learning typography you will realise that there are more than just words the words can create a certain feeling if place differently and have different fonts, colour and weight.

June update

 It has been almost been two months since school started, but i have been enjoying it even though it is very mentally taxing due to all the assignments and their super close deadline. I finally found a chance to meet up with my friends for dinner, so we went to Buddy Hoagies café and grill at Waterway Point for dinner. I was really sorry to the both of them as i was late for the meet up as classes ended late and there was traffic, so they had waited for 30 minutes.

     After dinner, we went to the night market opposite the train station, we bought ice cream as our dessert. we managed to try the new craze on the internet the rose ice-cream. I really cannot wait for the holidays to start...... it is going to start in a few more days i have so much plan for the 2 weeks vacation.

April short update

Finally back after so long, school started and i have to adjust to my new surrounding and environment. For the month of april, i went for my school camp to get to know people from my school better and to also know more about my new school. The camp was a really good experience and i was really glad that i went for it, it is one of the best camp i ever attended, thanks to all the group leaders (Gls) for making the camp such a memorable one too.

So school term started, and my first school assignment is to create a pair of happy socks, socks that make people happy. We had to come up with our own design using adobe illustrator and print it out. Overall the assignment was really fun and enjoyable hahhahha but not sure if all the future assignments will be like this.

Kai Garden

   

 A few months back, my family and i went to Kai Garden for dinner and we ordered peking duck as one of the dishes and it was really tasty. The peking duck has to be eaten with a wrap made out of flour, the wrap from kai garden is really special as it has different colours. The different colours meant that it was made from different ingredients. The green one is made from spinach, the red one is made from beetroot, the yellow one made from pumpkin, the black one from bamboo charcoal and lastly the white one is the original one. Even though the warps are made of different ingredients but they don't really have a special taste or smell, it just taste and smell like the original wrap.

     The peking duck also have some sides to go with it, for kai garden, they provided a small rectangular piece of corn cracker for you to add into your peking duck wrap. By adding the corn cracker into the wrap, it makes the wrap have more crunch to it because if there is only the duck skin it will be too thin to provide the crunch for the wrap. Other than the corn cracker they also provide the normal sides like spring onion.

     The sauce for the peking duck is also really special as they have five different sauce for you to put into the wrap. They have the traditional sauce, black pepper sauce, special mixed sauce, crab and prawn sauce and sesame sauce, however i personally still prefer to eat the duck with the traditional sauce.

Put the duck and bamboo shoot into the lettuce and eat it as another type of wrap.

     After the skin has all been slice,  the chef will take the duck and cook another dish with it for you. The duck is then diced and cooked together with diced bamboo shoots to from another fabulous dish.

Wimbly Lu

 I finally got a chance to try Wimbly Lu yesterday, it had been on top of my wish list for quite some time yet i could not find time to go and try it. I ordered a salted caramel ice-cream with waffle with a cup of iced honey lemon, my friends ordered a honey cinnamon ice-cream with pancakes and the other one ordered a plain crepes.

     The ambience is really nice with music playing on the background, we sat at the back where we are able to see the sky through the glass roof, which is really nice actually. The waffle is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and complements really well with the ice cream as the ice cream is able to fill into the crevasse of the waffle. Will definitely go back again to try their other desserts too, they also have really friendly staffs there as well.

London

   After staying in Cambridge for almost a week, it is time to take a cab to London to continue on my UK trip.  The journey was around 2 hours plus due to the heavy traffic so i reached London around 6pm plus. We proceed straight to our hotel in London which is Berjaya Eden Park Hotel, and check in and unload our luggage. After that we went out to get dinner. The hotel is really good as it is really close to the tube station, it is just opposite the tube station. Around the hotel there is tons of eatery and also a wide variety, ranging from thai to chinese to lebanese to persian food. There is also lots of shop selling souvenirs as cheap as 99p.

     The next day, we went out early and arrive at our first destination, the tower bridge. We paid for the admission ticket, and went up to take a closer look at the tower bridge. The bridge took 8 years to finish, used 30,000 tons of stone and cost £1,184,000 to build. 10 men died during its making and the walk way is 42 meters above the thames. In the middle of the walk way, the path is change and is made of glass, so while walking on the glass you can see things that is happening below the bridge. The glass is also only 6cm thick but yet is stronger than the wooden path way.

     After the tower bridge, my mum and i went to have lunch, we had fish and chips with a cup of latte. After lunch, we went into the tower of london to see the royal jewel such as the coronation spoon, and the different crowns worn by different kings and queen. It was an eye opener for me, and it was really magnificent.

    Then, we walked down to the monument that commemorate the great fire in london. The monument is really tall, it is standing tall at 62 meters and you can only reach the top by climbing, it is around 311 steps to the top of the observatory and the steps is the spiral type. But the stairway is really narrow and you will still have to give way to people that is coming down. We did not manage to climb to the top as we were a bit dizzy after climbing for a while, it may be because we keep looking down at our steps.

The next day we went to see the Big Ben, Westminster abby and the Buckingham Palace. We also went to chinatown and oxford street. Oxford street is similar to Orchard road with big brands and names. There is also a Primark there, which sells insanely cheap stuff ranging from clothes, makeup and many more. Things were as cheap as £1!!!
