Baking Adventure Part 2

I have been baking again during my free time and i also tried out many different recipes that i found on Youtube. The First thing i baked was the lemon cupcakes, i really love lemons so this cupcake is the bomb for me. Every bite you take it will be filled with the scent of lemons. This recipe is by Laura Vitale.

The second one is Eugenie Kitchen's Rainbow cookies, it is suppose to be in the shape of a heart but i change it to another shape instead. This recipe requires time as you need to constantly freeze the cookies to ensure that they are not too sticky to work with so that it is easy for you to cut it. The cookie is really buttery and it will be good to go with a cup of black tea. Even though it is quite time consuming but it will be worth it.

The third one is caramel popcorn, popcorn is something i cannot get enough of, it is simply irresistible. And it is surprisingly easy to make too. This recipe was by Cupcake jemma and it was indeed simple and quick. The caramel for the popcorn was awesome to it was just nice.

The fourth recipe was on churro, churros was the "in" thing the past few months. Everyone been talking about it every where, instagram, twitter. And i really have not tired it before so i thought why not bake it so that i can try it out? This recipe is by Gemma Stafford and the churros turn out like what she said in the video. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside paired together with the chocolate sauce....

The fifth recipe was something i had seen a long time ago and always wanted to try it out, it was the magic custard cake. From one batter, when you bake it,  it magically separated into 3 different layers with different texture, this recipe is by Sorted food.

The last one that i tried is not really a recipe more like a food art. It is a baymax rice burger, this was inspired by Bento monster. The burger had lettuce and a patty with a button mushroom at the side as a garnish. The eyes were cut out from seaweed.

Thats all for my baking adventure for now, can't wait to bake and cook more again:)

My Birthday Cupcakes

My birthday just passed 2 days ago and to celebrate this year's sweet 16 my mum decide to order a batch of fondant cupcakes. I get to know this store through my cousin whom bought the cupcakes to a birthday party, when i saw the cute and unique cupcakes i immediately asked her what is the store name.

I have order from this store at least 3 times now and they never fail me. I wanted an owl theme cupcakes so i emailed them my order together with the picture of the owl cupcake that i want them to make. And when i went to collect it looks almost as good as the one in the picture. They have two flavours for the cupcake, chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate cupcake has a chocolate inside which makes it double chocolatey. The price varies depending on your designs so be sure to check it with them. They also sell all kind of desserts like macaroons ( they even have bubblegum flavour) and tarts like lemon meringue tart and even biscuits.

Charlotte Grace Cake Shop: http://www.charlotte-grace.com

I also made s'more cupcake this week, it is really simple and easy as it is a one bowl recipe where all you need to do is just to mix and you can put it in the oven already. The cupcake is rich of chocolate and you also have the gram cracker base with the marshmallow meringue on top, it is really like eating a s'mores in a cupcake form. This recipe is from kawaii sweet world.

Daiso Artificial Leather Kits

Back once again after a long time..., this time it's a post on the Daiso artificial leather kits that i have done over the past few months. The kits are relatively easy to do and the end results are super cute, i really love all the kits especially the boots and the shoulder bag one. It is a kit that requires lots of time, so be prepared to be spending lots of time when doing this kit. But i assure you the end results are worth the time spent. There are a total of 5 different designs, the shoulder bag, boot, trunk, book and the hat.

The easiest kit would be the hat as it only have 3 pieces that needs to be sewn together and it could be done within 45 minutes. The kit that i found difficult to do was the trunk as you need to sew through quite a few layers which can be very difficult.

I have also done another series of a DIY kit from Daiso and it is the felt cloth one, where you sew the different felt cloth and stuff it with stuffing to make different desserts. That one too was also really cute and it was easier on whole compared to the leather one because felt is easier to sew than leather.

There are all $2 because they are from Daiso, i bought all the leather kits from the Daiso at vivo but i went to the other outlets and i saw that they have it too, it is located at the DIY or sewing section of Daiso.

Baking Adventure and Energizer obstacle race 2015

I am finally back once again after all the hectic school work and stuffs. This week is going to be a stressful week as i am preparing for my chinese O'level examination on 2 June which is like 1 week away from now. There is 1 week of chinese intensive revision and my coursework to do to, it is mentally tiring to cope with all these stuff at the same time.

Anyway during the period that i was missing, i also found some time to bake. To me, being able to bake or cook is like a time for me to relax it kinda helps me to release stress, so i decide to name it as my baking adventure. During this period i bake a few stuff like vanilla soufflé, winnie the pooh theme cookies, rainbow cake for my mom on mothers' day, lemon meringue tart and lastly lemon bars.

The vanilla soufflé recipe is from Eugenie Kitchen, the steps are simple and easy to follow and my soufflé manage to rise quite high and nice. I love the soufflé and my family members also complimented it, it has a pudding like consistency and also a milky and eggy taste which i love. The winnie the pooh theme cookies were inspired by another blogger known as Bento, Monsters, however i did not use the german cookie recipe i switched it for the vanilla sugar cookie recipe by My Cupcake Addiction and it works equally well. I was quite please with the results, it may not look the best but i am super contented that the pooh bear one turned out super well. However I could work on the other details for the other characters like tiger and eeyore.

For mothers' day i decided to bake my mother a cake this year, so i decided to make a rainbow cake. The cake was made using a packet mix to save time as i do not have enough time to make it from scratch. As i only have 1 cake pan i need to bake all the layers one by one and it too me a long time to complete. Each layer requires 25 minutes to completely bake so if you multiply that by 6....... yup i used 2 1/2 hours to just complete baking the cake. In total i used 4 hours from the start when i mix the batter for the cake to finish decorating it. I was elated as this is the second cake i bake but the first that i decorated the finishing of the cake looks quite good ahahahaha.
Lemon meringue tart

Lemon bars
The lemon meringue tart recipe is by Eugenie Kitchen again hahahah, i decided to make this tart as i was craving for something with lemons in it and i have always wanted to try this recipe, so i finally had the chance to do it. This time i manage to control the sweetness and sourness just nice so it is not too sweet or too sour, but i could further improve on the tart as someone said that they could still taste the flour taste.... I use the remaining lemons to make lemon bars since i don't feel like  making lemon tea with it this time, the recipe is from Laura Vitale.

This year, i joined my first obstacle race organised by Energizer, it was super fun and there was free flow of ice cream too! The obstacles was easy to do cross but it was the running that was difficult. I think it was because i did not train enough and also because we are running up hill, i was already tired after crossing the FIRST obstacle and it was only 500 meters......... However the part that i enjoy the most is the bouncy slide, you would have to climb up an air inflated structure that has steps at first then you can slide down it. On a whole, i really enjoyed myself and would like to participate again next year if given a chance :).

Slappy Cake and Bagel

Last Saturday i went to Sentosa with my best friend, we went to play the luge to release the stress within us. It was really fun and relaxing to be able to hang out with her too, since it has been a long time since we are able to spend time together.

All the sauces available for you to use.

After that we went to Slappy Cakes for lunch. The atmosphere was really comfortable and the moment you step in you will be able to smell the yummy buttery pancakes. I ordered butter milk batter while my friend ordered chocolate batter. The batter was counted by per bottle so one bottle is $8.50 and the sweet toppings are at $1.50 while the savoury toppings are at $2.00. They would also give you some butter, so you should spread the butter on the pan before cooking the pancakes. You could also make any designs for your pancakes.
Batters and toppings
My pancake was so soft and fluffy and it could go with any sauce they had because i had the basic batter, so any sauce would go well with it. I had roasted mushrooms as topping while my friend had chocolate chip, i wanted bacon but it was not available that day.... V_V'' We also ordered a bowl of mushroom soup to share, but the taste was very creamy and it did not really have the mushroom taste in it so it was okay in my opinion. But it tasted a little better with pepper. The pink thyme lemonade was to die for, i really love it especially the colour, the taste was not bad too i thought the taste of the thyme would cover the taste of the lemonade but it did not there was just a hint of thyme taste not too much. They also had a small water station where you can go and get warm or cold water and it is complementary.

On last friday, i made bagel and i got the recipe from SORTED food. The recipe was simple and easy to follow, i paired my bagel with lettuce, mushrooms and a patty, and it tasted surprisingly good. I am considering to make Soufflé on friday if i have the time.
Bagelsssss

Black tea mango from Starbucks which taste super nice. It cost about $4.90.

Study date and Honey Creme

Today i went out with my friend to study together for the up coming prelims and we decided to go to the library@orchard to study but before that we stopped at ION and went into The Soup Spoon for lunch. I had the velvety mushroom stroganoff while my friend had the tokyo chicken stew. After that we proceed to our destination.

When we arrived at the library@orchard we were amazed with the interior design of the library, it is a really suitable place to seat down and enjoy a good book. It is really comforting inside, we walked around trying to find a place to study but all they were all occupied by people so we ended up  studying at starbucks.

After studying, we went to somerset 313 to try Honey Creme, both of us have not tried it before so we were anticipating it. We decided to share and got a Organic cotton candy, the first taste was not bad as we ate it with the cotton candy but as we go along, i start to feel "sick" as the ice cream had a really strong milky taste to it. It kind of reminded me about the experience with llao llao. But it was a nice experience trying it as least i know how it taste like. One more week before i meet up with my best friends and we are going to sentosa!

Baking and cooking

It has been a long time since i post a post due to prelims and other stuff. It is currently the school holidays and i am suppose to study for the prelim but i cannot help but bake and cook. I bake a variety of stuff, firstly i baked meringues and on the second day i made creme brûlée. The recipe for the meringue is from eugenie kitchen and the recipe for the creme brûlée is from laura vitale. Both recipe were really simple and easy and could be made within 30 minutes. I really love the creme brûlée especially the custard.
Baked mussels
Creme brûlée
Meringues
Then on sunday, i made bake mussel and the recipe was surprisingly easy. I whipped it up within 20 minutes. The ingredients needed were garlic, butter, black pepper, salt and bread crumbs which i all have on hand.
Korean army stew 부대찌개
On tuesday, i made korean army stew and the recipe was from maangchi, i cheated a little by using the seasoning packet inside and added it into the soup. I could not wait for my first prelim to end i really want to bake more stuff maybe i will bake macaroon the next time.

Captain America

During my free time i also did some hands on stuff like clay modelling. It was super fun and easy the "clay" feels like foam after it has dried but it is easy to use. One bad point is that it sticks super easily once in contact so if you accidentally paste the clay at the wrong position there is no way you could remove it. But overall it is really cute and it dries easily at room temperature. I bought the "clay" from qoo10, they have many different designs available for you to choose too.
